**Job Description:**

Under the supervision of the Director of Manager of Youth Support Services, the Youth Transportation Specialists assist in transporting youth within New York State and across the nation to unite them with their sponsor.

**HOURS PER WEEK:**

* Regular hours entail 9:00am-5:00pm schedule, Monday - Friday

* Must be flexible to meet program needs

* Must be available to work afternoons, evenings and weekends (when needed)

* Travel may require overnight stay and red-eye' flights

**FUNCTIONS:**

* Escort (transport as needed) youth as assigned (both in New York State and across the nation)

* Ensure youth arrive safely to designated location to sponsor

* Conduct reunification/hand-off procedures with sponsors when escorting youth to designated location

* Respectfully communicate with children, foster parents, and colleagues

* Ability to navigate through airports, train stations, and various modes of public transportation

* Communicate efficiently and effectively with children, foster parents, Federal Officers, and sponsors

* Assist team during case emergencies

* Fly with youth as many as four (4) times per week

* Conduct last minute travel arrangements in coordination with the Finance Department if flights/trains are delayed and or cancelled

* Accompany youth to appointments

* Assist within the Cayuga Centers tutoring program

* Assist with last minute travel

* Assist with the intake process

* Supervise youth as assigned

**Experience and Skills:**

* High school diploma/GED required

* Associates degree preferred

* 1-year experience working with families and children required

* Experience working in a busy human services office- strongly preferred

* Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children

* Ability to take direction, remain clam, and respond appropriately in a crisis situation

* Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications

* Bi-lingual - English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required. Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency

* Valid NYS Drivers License required

* Ability to safely driver large passenger vehicle

* Ability to travel to other agency locations

* Willingness and ability to drive a car or van within the 5 boroughs of New York City, and across the nation. Willingness and ability to fly across the nation

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**

* Ability to handle various modes of transportation- Handle air travel- including turbulent flying

* Ability to perform bending, lifting, prolonged sitting/standing

* Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs

* Word processing: including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day

* Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling

* Sit in and/or drive a vehicle up to several hours

* Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, plains - public transportation for lengthy periods of time

* Walk up/down stairs

* Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation

* Walk several blocks to get to required location
