We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Workers Compensation Specialist, who will be responsible for managing and administering all aspects of workers' compensation claims and related processes within HOS. You will collaborate with internal teams, insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and legal counsel to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies while providing support to employees injured on the job. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a solid understanding of workers' compensation laws, and the ability to navigate complex claims efficiently.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and Manage the full cycle of workers' compensation claims, including intake, investigation, documentation, and resolution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders regarding workers' compensation matters. Keep all parties informed of claim status, requirements, and next steps.
  • Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local workers' compensation regulations to ensure compliance in all aspects of claims management and reporting.
  • Collaborate with HR, safety teams, and supervisors to implement injury prevention programs and ensure a safe work environment. Coordinate with healthcare providers to facilitate timely and appropriate medical treatment for injured employees.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all workers' compensation claims, including incident reports, medical records, and correspondence.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into workplace accidents or injuries, gathering evidence and interviewing relevant parties to determine liability and prevent future incidents.
  • Manage disputed claims by gathering evidence, participating in hearings or mediations, and negotiating settlements when necessary. Liaise with legal counsel as needed.
  • Prepare and submit required workers' compensation reports to regulatory agencies and insurance carriers within specified timeframes.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Workers' Compensation Professional - CWCP) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workers' compensation administration or a related field. Experience working with insurance carriers, claims adjusters, and legal professionals preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and best practices. Familiarity with medical terminology and injury management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with claims management software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Any relevant certifications in workers' compensation or related fields are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to workers' compensation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
