Key Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the management team, develop business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short- and long-term objectives and translate those strategies into actionable goals for performance, growth, and annual operational planning
  • Contribute to setting standards for service and ensuring they are being met by directly managing hourly FOH team
  • Work in partnership with the management team to achieve budgeted sales and operating costs, including actively engaging with monthly P&L statements and other financials to understand, and impact, sales and cost trends by:
    • Building and maintaining an exciting, living wine list and cellar
      • Curate, order, and price all wine
      • Manage wine organization, storage, and monthly inventory
    • Meeting targeted wine sales and profitability goals, approximately $600k in 2024 revenue with wine COGs of 22%
    • Leading staff education and contributing to a team of knowledgeable servers and bartenders
  • Work in partnership with the management team to:
    • Develop and implement systems and processes that are effective, efficient, and compliant with all laws, regulations, and internal policies
    • Continuously recruit top talent to build an agile, diverse, and committed team, including identifying opportunities for cross-training and trailing candidates to evaluate their competency and skill level
    • Resolve conflict and employee performance issues through fair and consistent mediation, coaching and counseling, and progressive discipline practices
    • Teach, train, and mentor with authenticity, empathy, and integrity to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging
    • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings regarding the overall strategy and success of the business, including team meetings, quarterly financials, and HR trainings
  • Work with the Director of Operations to establish and achieve clear individual performance goals

The Wine Manager is regularly scheduled for a 5-day, 45-50 hour workweek, including weekends, but will occasionally be expected to work additional days during peak periods and/or to cover staffing shortages. This position is scheduled for a minimum of 4 services per week as a manager in the dining room who sells wine, directs staff, and engages with diners.While performing the duties of the job, a Wine Manager is regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
