Mennonite Village is a not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community in Oregon's beautiful Mid-Willamette Valley. We are currently seeking a Part Time Wellness Program Instructor to assist our Mennonite Village residents and employees to focus on what they can do to lead healthy and active lives. The Wellness Program Instructor is an individual with demonstrated skill and education in the area of wellness programming and physical fitness for older adults. Shift: Days- 16-24 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide for a safe environment for exercise and wellness activities.
- Screen and orient individuals to the Wellness Center.
- Review and maintain resident and employee records and other pertinent forms.
- Educate participants in exercise routines and the use of exercise equipment.
- Develop alternative routines and exercise patterns to meet the needs of those requiring adaptive methods.
- Provide a supportive and motivating environment.
- Monitor employee and resident use of the Wellness Center
- Provide individual and group instruction in physical fitness and wellness activities.
- Provide for the maintenance and cleaning of the facility and equipment.
- Participate in ongoing exercise and wellness in-service training.
- Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of the job.
- Abides by the HIPAA policies and reports to a supervisor, breaches (or violations) of our HIPAA policies.
- Immediately reports identified hazards or hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
- Immediately reports adverse events and near misses to a supervisor.
- Attends mandatory training on HIPPA and compliance annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Knowledge of theories, standards and techniques related to exercise and wellness for older adults.
* Knowledge of human relations theory and psychology as it relates to the mature population.
* Knowledge of and supportive of Mennonite Village mission and philosophy.
* Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and resident confidentiality.
* Ability to work with and communicate effectively with older adults.
* Ability to accurately document activities.
* Ability to safely carry, lift, stand, sit, bend, reach, and kneel throughout the workday.
* Ability to push and/or pull wheelchairs and other equipment.
* Current CPR and AED certification and knowledge of first aid services.
* Work experience and/or a certification in fitness/exercise, coaching, activities, health or wellness programming preferred.
