Job Description:

We're seeking an exceptional individual to join our dynamic team, where you'll dive headfirst into an electrifying, fast-paced brand that's reshaping the retail landscape. This person will to take a lead role in creating the agenda and recruiting speakers at Shoptalk s two U.S. conferences: Shoptalk Spring, our flagship attracting 10,000+ attendees, and our new Shoptalk Fall. You will be responsible for working very closely with the rest of the Content team to write and create session titles and descriptions, and recruit speakers, who are senior leaders from prominent retailers and brands, dynamic startups, and technology solutions ranging from new challengers to global powerhouses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Agenda creation and development

  • Developing key themes, tracks and session titles in tandem with the Head of Content, USA and the Content Director for Shoptalk
  • Writing comprehensive agenda session titles and descriptions
  • Working with the Global Content team (based in New York and London) to develop and hone new agenda formats and content experiences

Recruiting speakers

  • Identifying and recruiting 50+ speakers through email, video, phone and face to face invites
  • Setting, reviewing and maintaining a speaker population that is gender balanced and diverse
  • Building and managing a network of speakers and advocates
  • Helping with content needs for other annual events in the Shoptalk portfolio (Groceryshop in the U.S. and Shoptalk Europe in Barcelona) as needed

Speaker management

  • Editing speaker biographies and writing detailed speaker descriptions
  • Leading speaker briefing calls with every speaker and moderator in the four weeks before Shoptalk Europe, including Keynotes
  • You may also play a supporting role on Shoptalk Europe and Groceryshop where required

Voice of Shoptalk

  • Working with colleagues on the Content Team to create and develop Shoptalk Original Content (pre-event marketing and on-site presentations).
  • Moderate panels and conduct interviews on track sessions and the Main Stage at Shoptalk and Shoptalk Fall, as needed.
  • Contribute to preparing and delivering Shoptalk s flagship Original Content Presentation, the Retail Zeitgeist, on the Mainstage at Shoptalk Spring.
  • You may also speak at outside events, host events, interview speakers on-stage and on-camera, and act as a voice of Shoptalk

General

  • Keeping up to date on retail trends and news globally
  • Attending industry events nationally and internationally
  • Keeping up to date with key themes in retail globally through reading newsletters, blogs, listening to podcasts, etc
  • Reading analyst reports, trading reports and so on to keep ahead of retailers (and their providers ) performance and trading
  • Getting to know the retail tech startup scene in detail including fundraising rounds, founders, investors and so on

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Deep knowledge of the retail landscape including key players, key companies, trends, themes
  • Experience in the retail industry and an understanding of how it works in terms of key relationships between manufacturers, distribution, supply chain, retailers, logistics, and more
  • An established (and growing) network of contacts, peers and influencers in retail
  • Great copywriting skills--you ll write clearly, concisely, accurately and thoughtfully
  • Experience presenting or speaking in front of both small and large audiences
  • Extremely detail oriented and well organized
  • Diplomatic skills - capable of and comfortable with engaging with senior individuals and facilitating transparent discussions with executives and PR professionals
  • Must be self-motivated, willing to take on new tasks, and adept at multitasking in a fast-changing and dynamic environment
  • Please note that event experience is not required

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from 165,000 185,000 based on experience
  • This position will be eligible for a competitive bonus
