Vice President, Accounting / Controller (Hybrid) Property Management Firm $220k-$250k all in

A prominent property management firm with approximately 4,300 units throughout the tri-state area is seeking to bring onboard a Vice President, Accounting / Controller in order to bring property accounting in house and build out a team. The firm has has an outsourced third party accounting function up until this point.

In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and ensuring the financial health of the organization while reporting directly to the chairman. This position is best suited for a hands on, yet strategic leader with a robust background in property accounting. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic real estate firm.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the development and execution of financial strategies to drive growth and profitability, optimizing real estate finance for market rate and affordable housing segments.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Report directly to the chairman, providing comprehensive financial analysis and recommendations for strategic decision-making, while collaborating on corporate plans and initiatives.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes aligned with organizational goals, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Manage property-level financial reporting, analyzing property performance and variances to budget and forecasts.
  • Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and regulatory agencies, while assessing and mitigating financial risks through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, driving operational efficiency and effectiveness through technology and best practices, and fostering growth opportunities within the division.
  • Stay current with accounting standards and regulations, proactively assessing their impact on the organization and implementing necessary changes.

Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required, with a preference for CPA certification.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in senior financial positions within residential real estate, particularly with an emphasis on affordable housing.
  • Proficiency in Yardi software and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of real estate finance, tax regulations, and compliance is necessary.

Compensation: $220k-$250k all in
