Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSummary:The Vice President for Finance and Administration advises the President on matters pertaining to the financial and business operations of the College, and oversees administrative functions in areas that include finance, budget, human resources, financial aid, and facilities. This position, which reports directly to the President is responsible for implementing policies and procedures that strengthen the operations and effectiveness of the institution. The Vice President for Finance and Administration also serves as a member of the President's Executive Cabinet and is involved in strategic planning, collaborating with other senior leaders to ensure that the financial goals and obligations are being met, and advises the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees, and may act as the President's delegate to the Finance and Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees on the financial status, budget, and overall financial health of the College.Essential Responsibilities:
  • Serve as an active and valued member of the Executive Leadership Team; which includes building strong, collaborative professional relationships with peers.
  • Provide strategic budgetary and financial leadership to the President, Board of Trustees, and fellow members of the Leadership Team on all matters related to finance, risk management, and operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop financial analyses, projections, and reports that will inform college-wide strategic priorities, planning, and resource allocation.
  • Lead the development of the annual financial plan in a collaborative, inclusive, and transparent manner, utilizing contemporary tools and industry best practices.
  • Identify financial and other risks to the college and develop strategies to mitigate and avoid them; design and maintain internal controls to safeguard institutional resources.
  • Plan for long-term business sustainability, given demographic changes in the college-going population and other disruptions anticipated to higher education.
  • Provide expert counsel to the president, Board of Trustees, and fellow members of the Senior Leadership Team on all matters related to finance, risk management and operations.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the College, including supervision of Finance, Human Resources, Financial Aid and Facilities.
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and several years' experience in directing business operations.
  • Master's degree or CPA preferred.
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible financial and/or operational leadership experience, preferably in higher education or an organization of similar scope and complexity.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, debt management, risk management, financial audits, and capital projects.
  • Hands-on leader who is creative and has the ability to think outside the box to develop effective solutions.
  • Broad-based operations knowledge and experience.
  • Must have a keen sense of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Always understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality.
  • Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Some evening and weekend hours are required.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
