Ascot exists to solve for our clients' brightest tomorrow, through agility, collaboration, resilience, and discipline.Job Summary:Ascot's Portfolio Solutions Group is seeking an Underwriting Assistant (UA) to work in its evolving Captive Solutions team as it builds its capabilities for producing and servicing captive market opportunities. The UA will work closely with the Senior Vice President, of Captive Solutions, and will be responsible for supporting and managing workflows between Captives Underwriting and Operations. The successful candidate will manage the life cycle of an account, including new business, renewals, and servicing of the Captives business. Responsibilities:
  • Support all steps of the Captives underwriting process in conjunction with the underwriting operations function.
  • Liaise with Captive Underwriters, Captive Consultants/Agents, and Reinsurers as needed to communicate account status and complete outstanding subjectivities.
  • Liaise with Captive Underwriters and Operations team to confirm quotes, policy issuance instructions for policies, endorsements, forms, notices, etc. and effectively complete coding/issuance of Captives business.
  • Provide underwriting guidance to the Operations team with new and renewal business life cycle work such as submission preparation, rating, referral prep, quoting, binding through to policy issuance, and endorsements within assigned authority.
  • Collaborate with internal operations partners to ensure that service standards are being met.
  • Ensure all parts of the Underwriting workflow are completed both accurately and on time.
  • Assist Captives underwriters with managing new business submissions, rating sheets, and quote reviews.
  • Assist with other Captives-related projects supporting the Captive Solutions team as required.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma, college degree preferred.
  • 5 years experience in a related field, P&C industry experience, experience with Captives insurance preferred.
  • Must be positive, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational, desk management, and prioritization skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
***This position may be filled at a different level, depending on experience*** CompensationActual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, long-term incentives, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $70,000 to $85,000.
