ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to ADWEEK s Deputy TV, Media and Sports Editor, the TV Reporter will be responsible for covering what marketers need to know about the fast-evolving TV business. This includes coverage of ad planning, buying, selling, programming, distribution, measurement and overall innovation in the space. You will work on everything from covering the TV and media news of the day to writing and reporting the research-driven features and second-day stories of tomorrow.

The evolving TV space representing the union of linear, digital, and streaming has exploded in the past few years, and we re looking for a journalist who excels at covering and analyzing the latest twists and turns in the space, as well as looking ahead to what is on the horizon. Beyond day-to-day coverage, the TV reporter also participates in podcasts and videos, moderates ADWEEK events and attends and covers industry conferences and events to seek new sources and develop story ideas.

Please note that this is a hybrid role and that it is based out of ADWEEK s NYC Office.

SPECIFICALLY, YOUR IMPACT WILL BE BASED ON:

  • Develop ideas, report and write TV and marketing stories and newsletters
  • Continuously work to expand your network of sources, mindful of diversity and gender balance
  • Develop a deep understanding of assigned beat, understanding the dynamics of the industry, industry trends, its key players and what is of interest to ADWEEK s audience
  • Collaborate with ADWEEK s visual newsroom, social media specialists and other beat teams to create well-packaged and innovative content
  • Plan, organize and participate in ADWEEK events, working with the department s deputy editor and events staff
  • Develop and execute awards programs
  • Produce and host ADWEEK podcasts and video series
  • Maintain ADWEEK standards for integrity, objectivity and ethics

WHAT WILL SET YOU APART:

  • 1-3 years of reporting experience in the TV and/or streaming space
  • Broad understanding of advertising and marketing industries, the key issues and players
  • Keen news sense
  • Ability to produce compelling content across formats, from short breaking news to analytical narrative pieces
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and produce clean copy/content
  • Ability to work collaboratively across formats (text, photo, video, live, social)
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Familiarity with WordPress or other publishing CMS
  • Familiarity with SEO and social media best practices
  • Excellent writing and critical thinking skills
  • Presentation skills; panel moderation and public speaking
  • Ability to analyze data, work with survey data, earnings, and government filings, such as SEC data
  • Strong organization and ability to prioritize and juggle sometimes competing or evolving priorities

COMPENSATION

  • Salary Details: $58,500-75,000
  • The salary range provided reflects the Company s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The final compensation offered will be determined by various factors such as the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, and location. ADWEEK is headquartered in New York City, and the salary specified is tailored for candidates residing within the New York tri-state area.
