Together, our interrelated programs provide a whole-person, whole-family, and whole-life approach that unlocks solutions for a lifetime.Salary Range: $69,000 - $80,000/yearly The Training Specialist will support delivering training and staff development activities across the agency including agency orientation, mandated training, continuing education training, and other training as identified based on agency needs. They will assist in the development of training content, identify and leverage training to be used and delivered through the Learning Management System, Relias.

Responsibilities:

The Staff Development and Training Department creates, promotes and fosters individual and organizational effectiveness by developing and offering an array of innovative and diverse training in support of The New York Foundlings commitment to employee development, multi-disciplinary partnerships and collaboration, and organizational enrichment.

The Training Specialist will support and develop training that facilitates the accomplishment of the mission, vision, and values of the New York Foundling by helping all Foundling employees reach their full potential.

The Training Specialist will support delivering training and staff development workshops across the agency including agency orientation, mandated training, continuing education training, and other training as identified based on agency needs. They will assist in the development of training content, identify and leverage training to be used and delivered through the Learning Management System, Relias.

Department productivity expectations, as established by senior management, must be met by the Training Specialist. They are expected to participate in individual supervisory conferences, monthly team meetings, maintain training records, including producing reports and training and development metrics, stay abreast of current issues, trends and knowledge in the human and social services fields.

The specific responsibilities of the Training Specialist include, but are not limited to:

Identify training needs by evaluating gaps in competencies

Translate requirements into trainings that will prepare employees for the next step of their career path by improving job skills and behavior

Develop online and in-person training programs; help prepare training curriculum and courses

Present information and course content with a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures to ensure engagement of participants

Develop the production instructional materials, aids, and manuals to be used in staff training

Direct structured learning experiences and monitor their quality results to share with employees and managers whether the course content and training is effective

Acclimate new hires to the organization and conduct orientation sessions

Assist with the assessment of training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of knowledge, taught skills, and techniques into employees work behavior

Periodically review ongoing programs to ensure that they reflect any changes. Assist with the development of alternative training methods if expected improvements in participant learners are not seen.

Stay abreast of the new trends and tools in employee development to ensure Foundling employees are getting relevant training content taught using best practices.

Regular and punctual time and attendance, and adherence to The Foundlings and your departments specific time and attendance policies and protocol.

Adherence to The Foundlings employee policies, Code of Conduct and applicable rules, laws, regulations, or bargaining agreements. Any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned. Other Requirements:

Bachelors degree in training and development, Organization Development, Human Resources, or related field

Direct training experience minimum 4 years

Knowledge of child welfare and developmental disabilities preferred.

Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques

Strong written communication and writing skills

Obtaining training certifications as identified based on agency needs.

Ability to work evenings and Saturdays as assigned.

Scheduled Work Hours Per Week: 35

Schedule: M-F 9am - 5pm

Saturdays and Evenings on occasion

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to safety.
Education Required:Bachelors Degree from a U.S. accredited educational institution or Credential Evaluation for a non-U.S. educational institution
