For detailed information regarding the 55-a Program, please visit the following link Compensation:Salary Range: Staff Analyst Trainee I OA: $50,924 - $53,980 (Represented by TWU)Staff Analyst Trainee I TA: $49,599 - $52,571 (New Hire Rate: $43,129; Rep by OSA)Staff Analyst Trainee II OA: $55,011 - $61,111 (Represented by TWU)Staff Analyst Trainee II TA: $53,565 - $59,520 (New Hire Rate: $46,580; Rep by OSA) Transit Management Analyst Trainee OA: $54,146 (Flat Rate; Represented by TWU)Transit Management Analyst Trainee TA: $52,037 (Flat Rate Non-Represented)TA CANDIDATES MUST BE IN A PERMANENT CIVIL SERVICE STATUS IN THE TITLE(S) OF ASSISTANT TRANSIT MANAGEMENT ANALYST IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED OR BE ON AN ESTABLISHED LIST OR HAVE PASSED A CORRESPONDING EXAMINATION.Responsibilities:The Trainee will assist with providing timekeeping services, but not limited to, the timely and accurate processing of separated employee's lump-sum calculations, employee promotional retro payments, and reconciliation of employee Time & Attendance. The incumbent day-to-day responsibilities includes, but is not limited to:
  • Assisting to reconcile employee Time & Attendance timesheets to meet bi-weekly payroll.
  • Assisting to review leave accrual balances to calculate employee separation lump-sum packages.
  • Assisting to review and validate bi-weekly retros amount for accuracy prior to payroll close.
  • Assisting to Identify applicable accrual entitlements in accordance with policy, CBA, and Regulations.
  • Assisting to manually calculate approved retro payments in coordination with HR Dept.
  • Assisting to followup with separating employees, various departments, and retrieve required forms/ documentations and actions to complete lump-sum packages timely.
  • Assisting to review various timekeeping reconciliation reports to flag exceptions and account for money owed to the agency prior to final payment.
Additional duties include:
  • Assisting to perform various audits as directed by Payroll/ Timekeeping Manager.
  • Assisting with scanning, filing, and maintaining official documentations and internal timekeeping records.
  • Assisting to perform various office administrative duties as needed.
Education and Experience:STAFF ANALYST TRAINEE I-II1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or2. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; or in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; or in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification; or in personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education, or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in 2 above; or4. A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to 1 , 2 , or 3 above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma or its education equivalent.Transit Management Analyst TraineeA master's degree from an accredited college in accounting, architecture,business administration, computer science, economics, engineering, engineeringtechnology, finance, industrial psychology, mathematics, physics, publicadministration, public policy, transportation planning, urban planning/studies,human resources management, labor relations, operations research, securitymanagement or in a related area; orA baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by24 credits in one of the areas listed in 1 above.Desired Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizing skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and exercise good judgement
  • Prior data processing experience preferred
