Job Description: Interviewers are responsible for contacting people, called respondents, who are needed for a particular study. They ask them the appropriate questions and record their answers. Founded in 1980 at Siena College in New York's Capital District, the Siena Research Institute (SCRI) conducts regional, statewide and national surveys on business, economic, political, voter, social, academic and historical issues. The surveys include both expert and public opinion polls.Siena College is currently accepting applications for a part-time Telephone Interviewer in the Siena Research Institute. The hours for the position are Sunday, 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., Monday - Thursday 3 p.m. -9:30 p.m. Duties include:Conducting telephone interviews with respondents using standardized interviewing techniques, and accurately recording responses using the Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) System or in writing.Telephone Interviewers work as part of a team and use specifically designed questionnaires and follow project-based instructions which are to be strictly adhered to. Telephone interviewers are trained to conduct interviews based on the AAPOR code of ethics and standard industry best practices. Almost all of an interviewer's time is spent conversing, persuading and listening to people from every walk of life. An interviewer must know to ask the right questions to get accurate answers without biasing the answer of the respondent. SCRI is seeking self-motivated individuals who are willing to commit to the projects they are assigned. Candidates must be comfortable talking on the phone and gaining the participation of respondents.Salary: $15.52/per hourThe hiring salary above represent the College's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.Requirements: A background screening will be required.In this role knowledge of a telephone, headset, computer (including a keyboard and mouse) is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and CATI system software is not required but would be helpful.
