25th March, 2024 The Wilner Group has partnered with a Global Network of accounting firms searching for a State and Local Tax Associate or Senior Tax Associate to add to their team. The individual will work closely with partners, managers and clients while serving as a consultant and representative on state corporate income, personal income, sales and use and other state taxes. They will be responsible for researching and drafting memoranda and other tax correspondence and creating spreadsheets with respect to income, sales, and payroll taxes. The position will also address tax credits (including the research credit), tax audits, voluntary disclosure agreements, nexus studies, income tax apportionment studies and tax filing positions. Preparation of sales and other tax returns on a limited basis will also be part of the State and Local Tax Senior position. Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for sales tax and other tax return preparation.
- Research, write and consult on various tax engagements.
- Respond to inquiries from state tax authorities.
- Interact with seniors, managers, partners, and clients.
Necessary Skills/Abilities:
- BA/BS/MS Accounting degree from an accredited college/university required; MST preferred.
- 2+ years of experience working within State and Local Tax.
- 150-credit coursework completion required.
- CPA or EA certification preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet challenging client requirements, provide services and possess strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and research capabilities.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions and recommendations in client related matters pertaining to tax returns.
- Ability to work additional hours during busy season may be required.
- Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet client deliverables.
