Our client, Grant, Herrmann, Schwartz, and Klinger LLP, with offices in New York City & Miami, specializes in the representation of high-net-worth foreign and domestic clients on all of their US investment activity with a strong focus on tax planning, corporate structuring, trust and estate planning, and real estate. The Department: Our team helps families and their financial and legal advisors from all over the world to structure our clients' assets in an efficient manner with a focus on wealth preservation and succession planning. We advise on all aspects of wealth structuring, tax implications, inbound and outbound investments, acquisitions and dispositions. We are a boutique firm based in New York City and have been working with foreign and domestic high net worth clients since our formation in 1946. The Position: Our New York City office has an immediate opportunity for a private client tax associate with 3+ years of experience in advising foreign and domestic clients on international tax matters. The associate's practice will focus on inbound and outbound international tax planning, with an emphasis on planning for high net worth individuals and families. Requirements:

  • Strong academic credentials (LL.M. in Taxation preferred).
  • 3-6 years of experience in advising US and non-US private clients on income, estate, gift, and GST taxation matters
  • Extensive experience with tax research and analysis
  • Experience with income and estate tax treaty analysis
  • Experience with international tax and legal matters, including but not limited to cross-border investments, real estate investments and income tax and transfer tax planning.
  • Experience in trust and estate planning, business succession, tax regularization, and pre-immigration tax planning a plus.
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to multitask in a high-paced environment;
  • Strong drafting, writing, and communication skills;
  • Ability to lead a project from start to finish, including maintaining constant communication with clients, advisors, and senior attorneys on a matter;
  • Desire to learn about overall firm practice and governance, including other departments such as corporate, tax, and real estate; and
  • Experience with Excel.
