Job Description:

Purpose:

To provided management support in the patient transport department. Responsible for assisting with day to day operations, as well as ensuring optimal coverage, education and guidance for all team members.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Supervisor is charged with and responsible for:

Providing oversight and support to the transport team.

Ensures integrity and accuracy of assignments, schedules, etc.

Reviews employee timesheets including monitoring for time and attendance infractions.

Review and authorizes over-time, request for time off (SR) in collaboration with coordinating managers

Generates requisitions for new and replaced positions.

Promote safe, cooperative and professional health care environment for optimum patient care, by adhering to all New York City Health and Hospitals policies, procedures, rules/regulations, including but not limited to, absenteeism, cell phone usage, dress code and rules of conduct. Demonstrates standards of performance and behaviors and makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Ensures best customer service, answer phones calls, takes detailed notes as needed, responds to enquiries and provide only necessary information admissible under rules to the providers.

Answer telephone calls, responds to inquiries and provide resolutions to issues surrounding, workflow, etc.

Perform supportive tasks, including but not limited to data entry, scanning, maintaining inventory (inspecting and storage of equipment and supplies), prepare reports, actively participates and involved in the performance improvement process of the institution and demonstrates reliable and professional conduct.

Responsible for escalating issues, concerns, etc. to management in a timely manner.

Communicate pending and other tasks to line staff as required to accomplish tasks within due course of time for optimal patient care.

Completes staff s performance evaluations and reviews with leadership.

Acts as the liaison between administration and patient transport department.

Communicates and collaborates with internal and external departments to ensure appropriate transferring of patients.

Assist patient transportation leadership with forecasting, recommendations for optimal performance of department, assist in goals setting.

Ability to quantify, review and provide data related to department productivity, operations, budget, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or its educational equivalent; and two (2) years of experience working as a patient escort or patient transporter or relevant work experience; and one (1) year of supervisory experience in a health care environment; or

2. Associate s degree; and two (2) years of experience, as described in #1 above; or

3. High School diploma or its educational equivalent; and five (5) years of experience, as described in #1 above.

All candidates must complete the NYC Health + Hospitals Supervisory Training within three (3) months of appointment.
