Job Description:

Position Summary:

Supervise and direct the daily work of the N.M. technologists, student technologists and ancillary personnel assigned to the N.M. Section and the overall operation of the N.M. area to provide patients with smooth and prompt imaging services of high quality. Directly responsible for the quality of N.M. imaging procedures conducted in the section and for management of personnel assigned to that area.

Education, License & Cert:

High School and graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. AAS degree preferred. Certification required; ARRT(R), advanced certification (ARRT(NM)) or NMTCB.

Experience:

Minimum of four years experience as a registered technologist in a N.M. section of the Radiology Department of a general acute?care hospital, supervisory experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

1. Performs supervisory duties for NM area

a. Formulates and makes a weekly and daily assignment and work schedule of each technologist to ensure the proper operation of the N.M. section.

b. Checks the function and performance of every N.M. system on a daily basis. Maintain the service and repair records per unit, as required.

c. Checks the consumption of supplies on a daily basis and orders replacement supplies, as necessary.

d. Assist N.M. Radiologist director in revision and update of N.M. policy and procedure manual. Monitor and review manual with Radiologist quarterly. e. Communicates with other departments such as emergency department, nursing, neurology, etc, to ensure that their needs are being met. Ensures that STAT requests are performed and interpreted on a timely basis in accordance with departmental policy.

2. Promotes cultures that fosters caring, quality, teamwork, and fiscal responsibility.

a. Shares knowledge and expertise with staff. Insures that other employees are trained to function as peak performers in their assigned job duties.

b. Ensures that radiology personnel are appropriately recognized and rewarded.

c. Prepares and performs employee evaluations.

d. Make recommendations for hiring, promotion, demotion, transfer, leave of absence or termination of personnel.

e. Assists and participates in an ongoing system of corrective action within Radiology; addresses performance issues.

3. Performs the functions and duties of a staff N.M. technologist. (Under NM Technologist JD)

4. Works with radiologist section chief to define and develop protocols pertaining to existing and/or new procedures, new equipment.

5. Explain procedures to patients, medical personnel and others to ensure cooperation in scheduling and performance of procedures.

6. Procure and maintain inventory of radiopharmaceuticals and other items needed to ensure operation of department.

7. Ability to work alone (on call) and get job done in an efficient manner.

8. Able to be in the department within 30 minutes after being called for a procedure.

9. Maintain other records with the RSO as required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other regulatory agencies. 10. Track patients and studies utilizing HIS/RIS.

Other Duties:

1. Demonstrates willingness to accept non?routine work assignments, as appropriate.

2. Works with staff technologists on time off schedule.

3. Ability to on call and get job done in an efficient manner.

4. Able to be in the department within 30 minutes after being called for a procedure.
