Responsibilities:
The primary work location for this role is JFK Airport.
Under the direction of the Safety Risk Management Operations Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for developing, administering, and evaluating Safety Management Programs and services Agency-wide while overseeing Agency compliance with federal, state and local occupational safety and health standards, codes and regulations. The Supervisor, Safety Management, will direct and supervise professional and technical staff proactively performing facility safety assessments, compiling, and monitoring safety statistics, evaluating safety equipment, advancing the Agency s Safety Coordinator Program, participating in facility emergency exercises/drills, and staffing the Emergency Operations Center during activations, as required. The Supervisor, Safety Management, must be willing to learn and become proficient in the use of safety software/technology initiatives managed by Agency Safety Management and use these tools to develop injury mitigation and safety initiatives. The Safety Supervisor will participate in internal and external meetings and on internal committees and working groups to represent the interests of Agency Safety Management; assist with the development of organizational metrics, performance reporting, project management and continuous business improvement initiatives; the development of key performance indicators for staff and provide monthly/quarterly status reports showing program and project progress; establish and monitor performance goals and objectives and guide and manage staff and their work performance through the organization performance management system aligned with the Agency goals, and develop staff through on-the-job training opportunities and attendance at appropriate training courses. The Supervisor will act as a principal investigator for the Division and respond to or coordinate staff response to accident sites and establish the chain of events immediately preceding the event and formulate possible causes; act as the liaison and collaborate with Treasury/Risk Financing and our insurance partners on incidents and accidents involving Port Authority, tenant, and contract staff; and act as the liaison with OSHA and other governmental entities on incidents and accidents which take place involving the Port Authority, PATH, and our contractors.
The selected candidate will perform responsible technical duties essential to ensuring that contractors are conducting activities in compliance with federal, state and local safety and fire safety regulations therefore eliminating hazardous practices and conditions.
This position requires frequent travel to all Port Authority facilities, both during business and non-business hours.
