Job Description: Employment is with The Research Foundation for The State University of New York, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for SUNY Cobleskill.SUNY Cobleskill seeks a Program Manager to provide oversight and management within the Institute for Rural Vitality's Farm and Food Businesses Development (FFBD) Programs. The position is responsible for ensuring proper implementation of a multi-million-dollar economic development grant portfolio. The intent of the programs is to incubate and accelerate agri-businesses throughout NYS and rural businesses in New York's Mohawk Valley. Responsibilities:
  • Provide project leadership, management and oversight for the grants managed to ensure grantor milestones, budgets, and objectives are achieved or exceeded.
  • Provide supervision and management of assigned staff members.
  • Serve as the liaison to community partners, sub-awardees, and contractors related to the Mohawk Valley Farm & Food Business Incubator (FFBI) and Accelerator (FFBA) operations. This includes program implementation, tracking, and collaborating on required reporting to grantors.
  • Strategic planning for FFBD programs, including grant and fund-raising efforts.
  • Collaboratively participate in the strategic planning for the Institute for Rural Vitality.
  • Collaborate with Institute for Rural Vitality Executive Director and SUNY Cobleskill faculty to create novel and meaningful opportunities for student projects relevant to FFBD programs.
  • Assist facility supervisors with coordination of FFBD client services across campus.
  • Coordinate and assist in planning conferences, workshops, and other special events.
  • Other duties/special initiatives as determined by the Executive Director, within the scope of IRV Programs.
  • Oversight and completion of administrative tasks including but are not limited to:
    • Scheduling and coordination of IRV tours and events. This includes making room reservations, reserving vehicles, preparing agenda, placing catering orders and organizing parking.
    • Submission and filing purchase requisitions and other reporting documents required by grantors and SUNY RF.
    • Scheduling Shared Facilities Users. This includes completing room reservations, notifying applicable faculty and staff, ensuring academic needs are meet and not conflicted with, evaluating potential training and onboarding needs, reviewing rules and procedures with clients, and preparing and submitting shared-use permits.
    • Billing and collection for FFBD programs and services as needed.
    • Monthly financial reconciliation of grant and vendor expenses with recorded transactions within the RF financial system
    • Ensuring needed equipment and supplies are procured in a timely manner
  • There are occasional travel requirements associated with this position.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in agriculture, agricultural business management, business administration or related program.
  • Familiarity with SUNY Cobleskill's and the Institute for Rural Vitality mission, vision and programming.
  • Understanding and capacity to network within the New York's agricultural and food sector.
  • Understanding and capacity to network within the New York's rural businesses.
  • Ability to build relationships, alliances, and partnerships with internal and external organizations.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook for email management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in business, agricultural business management, or a related program.
  • Project management certification.
  • Experience in grant writing and budget management preferred.
  • Experience with event planning preferred.
  • Experience with customer service and relationship management preferred.
