MST is experiencing tremendous growth and we are adding a new Staff Tax Associate to our New York based team. This role can be fully remote or hybrid depending upon your location and preference.Responsibilities:
- Preparation of federal and state income tax returns, amended income tax returns, income tax projections, and quarterly estimated tax calculations for individuals, partnerships, S-Corporations, C-Corporations, trusts, and estates
- Preparation of gift tax returns for individuals
- Preparation of information returns (e.g.,1099s and 1042-S)
- Assist with resolving federal and state tax notice issues
- Assist with the calculation of federal and state tax credits
- Assist with federal and state tax audits
- Perform tax research as needed to prepare returns and to answer client questions
- Perform accounting and bookkeeping functions as needed
- Assist with various consulting projects for clients
- Travel to client sites and the NY office in White Plains as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related degree program required
- Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred
- CPA or on track to become a CPA - have met minimum educational requirements to be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant
- Years of experience in public accounting: 0 to 3
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
