Sr. Automation Service & Engineering Support Technician (Fully Remote) Adaptec Solutions is a top-ten, North American integration partner engineering diverse material handling and automation solutions with lifecycle service support for manufacturing, distribution, and warehousingcompanies.JOB SUMMARY:Reporting to the Automation & Controls Support Manager, this position is an important customer facing role and part of the Lifecycle Services team. The role will be remote or can be assigned to any of our locations. The position is responsible for providing advanced Fanuc robot, controls and software services to our customers and internal stakeholders. This will be a senior position for technical support of customers and technicians. The following are key areas of focus:Serve as advanced robotics technical mentor for automation field service techniciansProvide on the job training to new or less experienced robot techniciansDeliver service and PMs to end users as requiredProvide remote technical support to customers as neededProvide support to operations & engineering on projectsIt is expected that the incumbent will be a strong team player and will work collaboratively with all customers and employees.This role has responsibility for supporting efficient and timely resolutions of Fanuc robot automation support requests with existing customers.This position will work closely with Engineering , the Regional Managers and Service Administration Coordinators to resolve customer issues ensuring a superb customer experience.This position will be responsible for supporting the quality and expeditious development of junior robot technicians.This position will work closely with the Lifecyle Services Support Manager, ensuring clear communication on customer issues, spare parts opportunities with new and existing customers to establish on site inventories to reduce down time with customer equipment will be pursued.JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Monitor/manage Fanuc robot automation tech support requests ensuring swift resolutionProvide PM service on Fanuc robots in compliance with OEM standardsProvide troubleshooting and repairs to Fanuc robots and other equipment as requiredProvide in depth details of Robotic repair quotes to the Service Administration teamSupport our customers on complex robotics and controls technical issuesServe on a rotation for on-call servicesRequires extensive (75%+) travel (domestic) for field service work, preventative maintenance visits, equipment installation, troubleshooting and providing trainingWork in collaboration with Regional Managers and Service Administration to support customer needsProvide advanced robotics technical advising to customers when requiredProvide in-house Fanuc robot repairs at one of our facilities when requiredPerform complex robotics service repairs and routine maintenance at customer sitesSupport material handling service as required by the territory.Manage site and truck stock needs for Automation Service.Lead local technicians in delivery of quality serviceWork closely with Service Coordinators to ensure all local technicians scheduled and utilized at 88% or betterProvide small service quotes / coordinate with Service Administration on smaller service quotesProvide engineering support for projects as requiredEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Two-year college technical degree in Automation Maintenance or Electrical Technology or equivalent experience.A minimum of five years experience in automation support environment preferably on Fanuc robots.Experience selling services and negotiating maintenance contracts in an automation environment.Two years of training experience.SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB:Computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.Strong knowledge of field service principles and practices, customer requirements and technician requirements.Knowledge and understanding of preventive maintenance programs, OSHA regulations, customer protocols and repair processes and procedures across automation product lines.Analytical, critical thinking, negotiating, managerial, organizational, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.Working knowledge of industry field service and installation processes and requirements.Ability to read plans, specifications, and schematics.Demonstrates organizational and project management skills, including ability to set and manage multiple priorities, and to set and meet deadlines.Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with diverse internal and external groups.SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB, cont.Detail oriented demonstrating an ability to capture all the key information daily to develop and maintain strong training programs.Knowledge in Basic Equipment and Machinery.
