Although this is not an approved position, we are accepting applications for this future and anticipated need.Social Services Director will oversee all case management and social services at a City Sanctuary Facility provider at a specific sanctuary hotel site. In the role of Social Services Director, your primary objective is to ensure the smooth functioning of case management and social services under yoursupervision. Overall, as a Social Services Director, you play a pivotal role in driving the success of the services by coordinating services and referral linkage with community care providers to ensure client needs are met. Compensation & Benefits:Estimated Starting Salary Range for Social Services Director: $80KPay commensurate with experience.Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.Social Services Director Responsibilities Include:
  • Overseeing case management and social services in a matter ensuring that overall service delivery is provided in accordance with Cherokee's contract with NYC DHS.
  • Ensure sufficient case managers are maintained at the site during case management business hours.
  • Ensure all incidents in case management are managed in accordance with DHS's published Incident Management Guidelines and Procedures. Including maintain a continuous open channel with the DHS Serious Incident Unit (SIU).
  • Work in partnership with the Site Director to ensure the success of the operation
  • Ensure compliance with child abuse and neglect mandatory reporting requirements
  • Ensure there are culturally sensitive services that include, registration, intake, roster tracking, and assessment
  • Ensure there are bilingual Spanish/English case management services on site
  • Ensure there is a referral process with community-based programs and organizations
  • Ensure coordination with interpretation and translation services
  • Ensure there are coordination processes with the NYC Department of Education (DOE) on student registration, school placement, attendance, transportation, and troubleshooting as needed
  • Ensure there are established agreements, referral, and linkage with community medical care providers
  • Ensure there is coordination with the Mayor's Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIA)
  • Ensure there are referrals to immigration legal services
  • Ensure case management services utilize the DHS system of records CARES
  • Ensure there are coordination efforts with local resettlement agencies. Including the roving teams providing the resettlement and relocation pilot for New York City Department of Social Services
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Social Services Director Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Bachelor's Master's degree in social work or another human services field
  • Two years of relevant experience working with people who enter the U.S. seeking asylum.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • 2+ years of experience supervising social services staff in the delivery of culturally sensitive, trauma-informed services.
  • Solid understanding of immigration laws, regulations, procedures, and benefits/entitlements.
  • Experience working on-site in a congregate housing setting.
  • Experience working with the NYC Department of Homeless Services shelter system and navigating the Department of Education and Administration for Children's Services' child welfare systems.
  • Crisis intervention experience
  • Must be organized as well as, have excellent verbal, written and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families, collaborating agencies, and community professionals.
  • Strong customer service background
  • Able to effectively manage significant documentation.
  • A self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision and work independently.
  • Able to prioritize and be accountable for timeliness to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Possess sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize duties and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Must possess knowledge of immigration laws and procedures
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
