Overview:

A newly created company is seeking an experienced plate-based Biologist to support a revolutionary chemistry AI platform for small molecule therapeutic discovery from lead identification to lead candidate on behalf of clients. As a member of the biology team, the primary responsibility of this position is to optimize assay execution, maintain the reagent inventory, produce on demand cells and perform a battery of assays on an automated screening system. In addition to flawless execution, timely assay data QC and data analysis following strict pass/fail criteria will be required for supporting the AI platform. Assay development and adaptation to automation will be needed for each new target project.

The successful candidate will execute high throughput workflows in collaboration with colleagues from the Medicinal Chemistry, Automation and Data Sciences teams to assess a wide array of target-based in vitro data, structural data as well as in vitro ADME data. The biologist must coordinate the execution of biochemical, biophysical and cellular assays to identify and characterize lead molecules with ideal ADME/PK properties during lead discovery. The biologist must exhibit an energetic and innovative approach to problem solving. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a desire to work in a fast-paced, flexible and dynamic environment is required.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of project Core Teams, working collaboratively with external and internal colleagues.
  • Liaise with the client investigators and ensure appropriate resources are allocated to meet these commitments.
  • Support scientific direction and strategy to identify and implement emerging key technologies to expand service capabilities and fulfill customer needs in cutting-edge drug discoveries.
  • Support additional non-core experimental work at CROs to substantiate the Lead product package.
  • Maintain the highest level of scientific rigor and professionalism within our organization.
  • Work in an environment of iterative learnings and flexibility as the platform matures.

Key Experiences

  • Ph.D or MS in biological sciences with experience in plate-based assay development and screening.
  • Experience in the design, validation and routine implementation of cellular and biochemical in vitro and ADME assays is essential.
  • Experience with automation platforms and high-volume data analyses is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute screening cascade operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage timelines while advancing projects to successfully meet stage gate criteria.

Expected Salary Range: $145,000 - $174,500 (Compensation will be commensurate with experience and expertise.)
