Description Senior Project Manager - Mechanical/MEP New York City, NYPosition Purpose:Help further establish PVE as a leading expert of MEP upgrades to existing multifamily and commercial buildings, both in piecewise upgrades to existing systems and whole-building MEP upgrades for decarbonized solutions to existing buildings for long-term Local Law 97 compliance. Responsible for the oversight of service teams that perform investigation, analysis, examination of an existing building as it relates to (primarily) mechanical systems and (secondarily) electrical and plumbing systems, and surrounding/adjacent site conditions and building elements that affect the building's overall MEP operations, energy performance, and carbon savings. Review of ongoing project work (calculations, design, construction administration, inspections, etc.) of staff for completion of project activities, both in field and office. Responsibilities:
  • Manage technical and administrative aspects of Mechanical/MEP Design service opportunities from proposal preparation to final acceptance by Client, including invoice and accounts/receivable.
  • Review assessment information gathered during site investigations (performed by self or by direct reports). Reviews and comments on technical reports ensuring structure and language utilized is easily understood by Client and grammatically correct, and applicable to the building.
  • Work closely with the energy/sustainability arm in the NYC office to bridge in-house ASHRAE Energy Audits assessments into implemented decarbonization solutions for existing (primarily) multi-family buildings and (secondarily), via design/construction admin services.
  • Supervising a team of staff designers and engineers to produce trade-specific schematic, filing, and construction designs/layouts based on solid-design principles and strict adherence with NYC DOB, DEP, HPD, and HMC codes/regulations. Review of project Specifications, Bidding Documents, cost estimates, and related submissions as they relate to city requirements for presentation to clients, and city/state/federal review and permitting.
  • Periodically inspect work from contractors and staff to ensure construction activities adhere to the contract documents (field/office) and prepare summary documentation for presentation.
  • Play a lead role in effectively communicating with external clients, contractors, vendors, consultants, and city/state construction/energy agencies.
  • Create and maintain project schedules, change orders and budgets; identifies resources to be used for each project ensuring that all projects are sufficiently staffed and kept on schedule in accordance with client agreements. Manages project budgets and invoicing. Processes invoices on time and develops project budgets.
  • Provide feedback to direct reports in the form of performance evaluations, training, development, and improvement plans. Mentors new team members regarding work processes, company policies, safety, time reporting and general office rules.
Job Environment:
  • This position is in New York City and may require some travel. Valid driver's license required.

Required SkillsBachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering from an Accredited university8+ years of experience (required) with projects based in NYC (strongly preferred), mechanical engineering primary background (strongly preferred) with managing multi-disciplinary MEP design projects familiarity with Autodesk Revit/CAD, Microsoft Office Suite, load/energy modeling software, solid experience with NYC agencies (DOB, DEP)New York State Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) requiredPay Range $120,000.00 Annually to $130,000.00 Annually
