Our client, a leading provider of general contracting, at-risk construction management, and design-build services for public and private sector clients across New York State, is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join their team in Waterford, New York. Role Description

As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for oversight of the entire project's life cycle including communication, coordination, and conflict resolution to ensure that construction project goals are met. You will serve as the organization's main point of contact and corporate representative through budgets, proposals, pre-construction, construction and post-construction.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of each project;
  • Communicating with owners, design team, and subcontractors related to project risk, timetables, costs/budgets, and change management;
  • Performing quantity take-offs and estimating for self-performed and subcontracted work;
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints/drawings, specifications, proposals and related documents;
  • Motivating the project team by providing leadership, mentorship, and supervision to all project staff;
  • Evaluating staff performance, identifying and facilitating training needs as necessary;
  • Ensuring a positive and safe work environment, serving as a role model for professional behavior;
  • Proactively creating opportunities for new work with new and existing clients.

Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you will be organized and task oriented, able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple deadlines and have a demonstrated ability to adapt readily to changing priorities. Most of all, you must be energized by the opportunity to play an important role in how people live, work, learn and play in our communities.

Your qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of relevant project management experience;
  • BS or MS degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field;
  • Excellent time management with the ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, plan and solve problems creatively;
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage and schedule complex projects so that all deadlines are met or exceeded;
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills;
  • Exceptional ability to multi-task and prioritize workload;
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in the following: MS Suite (Work, Outlook and Excel), MS Project or P6 Scheduling software, Bluebeam (or similar), Procore, and Sage 300 (Timberline).
  • Good driving record, with the ability to travel as required;
  • Familiarity with regulatory construction standards;
  • Experience managing cost-plus projects is a definite asset.
