Responsibilities:

The League serves as a multi-employer collective bargaining unit, and the Senior Manager of Labor Relations provides labor relations counsel, support and service to League membership, in accordance with the direction of the League s Labor Committee and the Director of Labor Relations. The Senior Manager s primary responsibility is the organization and management of the League s collective bargaining process across all of the relevant industry collective bargaining agreements. The Senior Manager attends and/or handles League labor negotiations, manages and/or conducts grievances and arbitrations; drafts contract language; and responds to the membership s day-to-day labor relations informational and contract interpretation needs. With the Director, supervises the Labor Relations Manager and the Labor Relations Associate.

Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Carrying out the League s strategic labor and employment initiatives

Organization and management of the collective bargaining process, including, but not limited to:

  • Preparation/drafting of proposals
  • Proposal costing
  • Leading internal caucus sessions
  • Upon approval of the Director, serve as chief spokesperson on certain negotiations.
  • Drafting contract language and agreements

Interfacing with Union representatives on industry/membership issues with the goal of fostering a proactive and productive labor relations environment by developing and enhancing relationships between the leaderships of the industry and constituent unions

Responding to member inquiries related to collective bargaining agreement interpretation and application and employment law-related matters

Supporting the Grievance and Arbitration process by:

  • Providing information gathering and analysis for League administered union grievance processes.
  • Providing guidance and support to member regarding grievance issues
  • Acting as first chair/chief spokesperson, where appropriate.
  • Providing arbitration management and advocacy
  • Drafting settlements and other documents as needed
  • Coordinating with outside counsel as applicable

Oversight of departmental communication process with membership, including negotiation updates, e-mail alerts and web-site development and utilization

Oversight of departmental staff and their work product as directed by Director of Labor Relations

With the Director, oversee Labor-Management Committees and Health and Safety Committees.

Provide other legal representation as skill sets and resources permit.

Other duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • 5+ years of related experience in Labor Relations whether at a law firm, in-house or equivalent (e.g. negotiations preparation, bargaining, implementation and administration of contracts).
  • Proven understanding and current knowledge of relevant labor and employment laws including, but not limited to, NLRA, Title VII, EEO, ADA, and FMLA; and associated labor and employment laws.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with both internal and external audiences
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and attention to detail, proven by the ability to exercise appropriate judgment in executing tasks without supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines/deliverables

Compensation will be in the range of $185,000.
