Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities Develop and refine customer segmentation strategies that enhance targeted marketing, content personalization, editorial direction, and advanced ad targeting capabilities. Develop and execute a comprehensive data science strategy that leverages machine learning and advanced analytics to enhance content discovery, audience engagement, and other predictive modeling outputs that drive value from the Hearst customer base. Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of segmentation strategies, providing insights to improve targeting and engagement efforts. Guide divisional stakeholders on best practices for the application of data science to business opportunities including personalized content experiences for Hearst audiences. Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the impact of data science initiatives on business objectives. Work closely with marketing and content teams to identify segmentation criteria that align with business objectives and customer behavior. Lead the development and adoption of LTV models across multiple business units based on historical and behavioral data. Conduct scenario analyses to assess the impact of different marketing and retention strategies on customer LTV. Offer data-driven insights to drive improvements in products and services, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth. Partner closely with data engineering teams within Hearst Technology and the media business units to identify gaps in data collection and collaborate on automated solutions for system integration. Support the development of a 1st party identity solution in collaboration with our media business partners to integrate and resolve the various identity solutions across Hearst Consumer Media. Mentor and develop a team of data scientists, promoting a culture of curiosity and continuous learning in data science expertise. Regularly present insights and progress to senior management, enabling informed strategic planning.Qualifications PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Advanced knowledge in machine learning (scikit-learn style models) and artificial intelligence (deep learning style models) Ability to work in a collaborative team environment Excellent communication and presentation skillsIn accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $235,000 to $260,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
