The role:

As a Senior Data Scientist at Scope3, your role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to inform business decisions and drive product innovation. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive solutions. You will also partner with engineers and own data projects from conception to scale, embodying a passion for data-driven decision-making, a bias towards action, and the ability to thrive autonomously. Strong analytical skills are crucial for the role, but also the ability to recognize that simple can sometimes be best.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop statistical models and algorithms to extract or predict meaningful information.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance models to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Clean, preprocess and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Own end-to-end data science projects, from robust data pipelines to scalable model deployment.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to continuously evolve the data development infrastructure.
  • Fuel data-driven product innovation and thought leadership.
  • Communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and apply new knowledge to enhance processes.

Previous experience:

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the ability to operate autonomously while making substantial contributions to the data science ecosystem as a whole. Therefore, an ideal candidate will have:

  • Several years of experience working independently at a senior level.
  • BS or advanced degree in fields ranging from mathematics, engineering, to economics.
  • Proven track record of successfully applying statistical techniques to real-world problems.
  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Strong SQL proficiency, and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with collaborative cloud notebooks for data science.
  • Experience with data development tools like dbt or similar is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating closely with product managers and data engineers, and coordinating with cross-departmental stakeholders to ensure consistent and top-tier quality for all deliverables.
