Job Description:

A non profit healthcare organization is currently seeking a Senior Data Analyst. The Senior Data Analyst will perform complex analyses using advanced technical knowledge as well as interpret and provide written summaries of analysis output. The Senior Data Analyst will also be responsible for the identification and response to efficiency-promoting opportunities within the department.Responsibilities:

  • Translate data analysis requests into solutions by data wrangling, data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Helps business users create optimal business requirements by exploring data and analytic alternatives and guiding users to the most cost-effective and efficient approach to meeting their needs. Translates internal/external client business requirements into actionable instructions for meeting client needs.
  • Designs analytics (reports, dashboards, models) to respond to complex requests. Develops quantitative approaches (drawing on a range of methodologies) to address client needs.
  • Conducts basic statistical analyses (e.g., creating standard normal distributions).
  • Ensures accuracy, data integrity, and face validity of all work.
  • Writes reports with charts and graphs; presents to internal and client leadership; and summarizes findings and recommendations for technical/clinical and nontechnical/ nonclinical audiences, as appropriate.
  • Creates and maintains databases to support analytic outputs.
  • Ensures all analyses use high-quality data. Develops strong understanding of data sources and works with organization and client data management staff to ensure complete, accurate, and timely data.
  • Demonstrates the ability to multitask and manage many simultaneous projects and last-minute emergencies to meet deadlines while still maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Supports continuous quality improvement. Contributes regularly to improving data and analytics sophistication and efficiency within the department and across the enterprise.
  • Creates documentation (such as code detail, report specifications, narrative backup, and metadata) for all outputs. Reviews documentation produced by more junior analysts.
  • Produces all agreed upon deliverables on or ahead of schedule.
  • Troubleshoot any data or performance issues with workbooks and data sources.
  • Represent department leadership on customer and client calls for specific areas of subject matter expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with SAS for data manipulation
  • Bachelor's Degree and two years of related experience
  • Experience with large datasets, understanding of PROC SQL, MACROS and importing and exporting Excel, delimited and fixed width files.
  • Ability to manipulate the data, utilizing PROC SUMMARY/MEANS
  • Ability to transform data
  • Ability to manipulate and utilize SAS to transform data from a SAS dataset or DW to information necessary for reporting needs.
  • Experience with Macros %LET, %MACRO and %IF %DO macros
  • Possesses a deep understanding of relational databases and their use characteristics.
  • Demonstrated communication capabilities using tables, graphs, interactive dashboards and written reports that can be easily received by technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to solve complex business problems and opportunities through the design and development of efficient, high-quality and customer-centric analytic solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Possesses stellar communications skills, both written and oral; able to produce effective written summaries outlining the results of complex analyses.
  • Strong Skills with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word.
  • Specific Healthcare experience or knowledge of:
  • Quality Measures
  • Payors
  • Electronic Health Records
  • Patient Self-Reported Data
  • CMS/Medicare/Medicaid requirements

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced SAS Certification preferred.
  • Programming or scripting skills in SQL, Python or R,
  • Experience with BI visualization tools and reporting packages
  • (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, ideal)
  • Experience with building predictive models strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree and one year of related experience
