Job Description:
Summary Arcadis DPS Group is looking for an experienced Sr Architect to work in our Albany, NY office. In this role, you will report to the Architectural Department Manager and be responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned project, including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client's needs. Provide architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects; independently applies proficient architectural concepts and designs; and carry out assignments requiring the development of design. You will also be expected to provide technical guidance and mentoring to Architect/Designers I and II. Proven success working for A/E or EPCM consultancy companies in a similar role, supporting projects related to cleanrooms, laboratories, semiconductor fab, data center, solar manufacturing, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable. This is not a remote position and will require the selected individual to live local and in commutable distance to the Albany, NY office. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team to successfully deliver projects within financial budgets and deadlines.
  • Research, test and develop solutions to architectural problems. Advise on most appropriate design response to satisfy all constraints and opportunities.
  • Manage, produce and issue all project documentation including detailed drawings, reports, specifications, meeting minutes, applications and contracts.
  • Create building designs and highly detailed drawings both using the Revit platform.
  • Work closely with a team of other professionals such as MEP engineers, construction managers, estimators, and structural engineers as well as clients.
  • Assess and comment on recommendations and information from other project consultants.
  • Attend and report at site meetings as required and check on progress. Carry out site surveys, design verifications, issue certificates and instructions as required.
  • Liaise with authorities as required at different project stages. Ensure code compliance and prepare permit applications.
  • Attend, report at and chair design team meetings with other project consultants, as required. Prepare meeting records and agendas.
  • Research materials and specifications
  • Manage design changes by adapting plans according to circumstances and resolve any related issues that may arise during construction.
  • Proficient knowledge in applying practice based graphical standards to contract drawings.
  • Proficient in all conventional aspects of architecture, design layout, building code research, material research and specification, detailing, and writing reports.
  • Proficient knowledge of technical applications of building materials.
  • Implements the development of presentations and construction documentation.
  • Proficient in understanding, interpreting and compliance of zoning and building codes with contract documentation coordination.
  • Ability to work with design teams on multiple projects at once and meets project deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate work with project engineers.
  • Proficient ability to coordinate building systems with engineering teams.
  • Successfully interacts with the design team and follows the direction of Lead Architect/Designer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills And Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Architecture, Engineering or related field with 5+ years' working in a similar role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed Architect required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal (English), along with attention to detail and organization. Willingness to provide guidance and mentorship to level I/II professionals.
  • Ability to take ownership of assignments, work both independently and as part of the team, supporting multiple projects at a time.
  • Software proficiencies should include advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Sketchup, Bluebeam and PowerPoint, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel primarily)
  • Working knowledge of international building codes. Previous experience supporting industrial facilities projects is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Local candidates preferred. Will entertain relocation for candidates with directly related experience.
  • Ability to provide valid work authorization for US employment.
