Background

LifeSci is launching a new long/short fund of a high-profile life sciences group. Launch date will be June 1, 2024. This new fund will be on the LifeSci Partners platform. LifeSci Partners have built a cohesive ecosystem of 9 distinct businesses that provide life science clients with complementary domain-specific services. The investment team is looking to hire an investment professional to help with data management and idea generation. This person will interact with the decision makers across the fund.

The fund currently has one CIO on the investment team. For an incoming analyst, there exists immense white space to build out coverage with increasing responsibility. The position comes with tremendous compensation potential given the AUM to investment team ratio. The fund is looking for someone who can go deep into the sciences, understand financial and operational structures, interact with management teams with an inclination towards investing in public companies.

The candidate will be responsible for identifying new investment opportunities, overseeing market research and due diligence activities, potentially serving on portfolio company boards when relevant, and shaping the Firm s overall growth and operations. Successful candidates will be highly mission-aligned with a desire to leverage their investing experience to help build a leading life sciences long/short fund presence. Candidates with a biological sciences background and the ability to go across the life sciences space (biotech, pharma, etc.) are highly preferred. Flexible on seniority as well given this is a Partner-track role.

Desired Qualifications

  • Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in the biological sciences space
  • 3-7 years of research experience in life sciences or equity
  • Demonstrated passion for stock picking within the healthcare space
  • Experience with a diverse range of financial instruments and investment structures
  • Strong leadership, project management and communication skills with an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to cultivate relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong initiative, ability to work independently and think strategically about business development
  • Experience working in diverse geographies and/or an interest in and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • A willingness to embrace a periodically intense work environment and non-traditional business hours to manage the Firm s international network of stakeholders and portfolio companies
