Job Description:

The Safety Manager works to prevent risk of workplace accidents and promotes health and safety compliance and awareness and education to fellow employees. They are responsible for ensuring employees follow health and safety laws and creating procedures and policies for a safer work environment. The Safety Manager must take measures to identify potential workplace hazards and improve existing conditions.

Within this role the Safety Manager will be responsible for the analysis, structuring, administration and co-ordination of the various health and safety requirements & laws, and the construction of and adherence to the operational procedures that under pin compliance and the mitigation of health & safety risk.

Reporting to the Group Quality and Development Manager in the UK they will partner with the US Managing Director and General Managers to ensure health & safety, risk and compliance is managed appropriately within the US business and that there is alignment across the Group.

Department Operations Employment Type Full Time Location New York Compensation $70,000 - $80,000 / year ** Key Responsibilities**

* Drive, develop and co-ordinate appropriate programs to ensure that the Cadogan Tate Health and Safety policy is embedded and appropriate for the needs of the US Operations

* Facilitate / chair and formalize all health and safety meetings for the US operations

* Ensure compliance with local and federal legislation

* Provide information and reports for the Group Quality & Development Manager

* Ensure thorough record keeping and analysis of data

* Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures

* Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk following legal guidelines

* Audit sites, including warehouses for safety, including fire risks

* Monitor and audit that the appropriate inspections and maintenance of equipment is in place

* Drive and support behavioral change to continuously improve performance through coordinated group wide programs and initiatives

* Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies with the aim to suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for safety issues

* Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents

* Develop processes and procedures including Risk Assessments and actively communicate these to the workforce at all levels

* Work within the Group Compliance and Training Team to assist in the development and communication of training and learning initiatives around safety issues

* Work with HR in handling workers compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident and carry out associated administrative tasks

* Assist with preparation of presentations and advertising material

* Promote health & safety within Cadogan Tate. Should be aware of issues and be looking out for unhealthy, unsafe and hazardous areas of the working environment and deal with these in accordance with Cadogan Tate's health and safety policy

* Perform other related duties as assigned

** Skills Knowledge and Expertise**

**Required Skills/Abilities:**

* Ability to communicate with different levels within organizations and externally using various mediums

* Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards

* Self-motivated and able to work using your own initiative when required

* Ability to provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures

* Ability to recognize when safety conditions need improvement

* Good organizational, leadership and motivational skills

* Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

* Ability to prioritize tasks, especially when handling an accident or incident

* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

* Team player, able to work with others within the local and global team in a dynamic environment

* Comfortable in a results-driven workplace

* Ability to thrive in a fast paced, multifaceted work environment

**Education and Experience:**

* Bachelors degree in related field required or master's in occupational safety management or equivalent

* OSHA certification at Diploma level or other qualification to at least Diploma level in risk management and health / safety management

* At least 3 plus years' experience of working as a safety manager or adviser in a multi sited company

* Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines at local and federal levels

* Ability to supply data analysis

* Experience of logistics and transportation in particular moving, shipping and installations of fine art and personal effects

**Physical Requirements:**

* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

* Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times

* Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations facilities
