Job Description:

The Risk Manager will manage the assets within a portfolio of performing multifamily loans within the Arbor Private Label, Arbor Private Investment, and/or Single-Family Rental platforms. The Asset Manager will assess asset quality, document loan performance, build relationships with borrowers, ensure Investor compliance, and proactively monitor emerging risks.

Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities)

Manage portfolio of Commercial Real Estate loans and various workflows including:

  • Perform financial analysis of property operations and borrower wherewithal; conduct market research and analysis relative to the assigned portfolio to determine how the asset is performing against underwritten expectations.
  • Establish relationships with borrowers and loan guarantors for assigned portfolio, ensuring timely responses and processing of various borrower requests.
  • Assist with timely satisfaction and compliance with securitization requirements, (i.e., CMBS) as necessary.
  • Review and interpret loan documents to ensure borrowers remain in compliance with loan covenants.
  • Evaluate physical property condition and overall maintenance of the collateral; conduct physical property inspections; review third party inspection reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and approve all funding requests for completion and accuracy prior to funding.
  • Review borrower consents requests (such as insurance losses, easements, partial releases, property management changes, etc.) to ensure compliance with the loan documents and the applicable pooling and servicing agreement.
  • Provide mentorship to the team s dedicated analysts.
  • Provide recommendations to management and investors, as needed.
  • Other duties and projects as requested.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor s degree, preferably in Finance or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum two (2) years experience in commercial lending, credit/ underwriting, credit risk, and/or loan asset management.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Exposure to commercial real estate, risk management, financial analysis, valuation of commercial real estate, underwriting or asset management, client relationship management, distressed loan workouts, and capital markets.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word applications
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and on teams in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
  • Loan servicing system experience a plus

Travel: Limited travel is required.

Arbor Realty Trust, Inc. offers a competitive base salary and discretionary bonus. The starting base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $100,000. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee work performance reviewed during the course of the year. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
