Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Test and evaluate raw materials including physical characteristics, electrical characteristics and chemical compositions.
- Test samples and manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
- Record all test results on standardized forms and write test reports describing procedures used.
- Apply DOE and other statistically acceptable practices for optimization of existing and new processes.
- Set-up, adjust and operate lab equipment and instruments such as ball mills, drying ovens, hydraulic presses, XRF, surface area analyzer and computer control equipment.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment and systems used.
- Use Design Control and APQP procedures, DFMEAs and PFMEAs where applicable.
- Record, compute, analyze, and report data including any recommendations.
- Develop and validate specifications and capability of processes.
- Evaluate defects to determine root cause, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Follow all relevant Quality and/or Environmental standards to which Fair-Rite is certified.
- Follow all O.S.H.A. standards and the Fair-Rite Safety and Health Policy
- Other engineering duties may be assigned as necessary
- Other non-essential duties may be assigned as necessary.

Minimum Education / Experience requirements:
- A.S. in Chemistry/Material Science or other related science; equivalent experience; combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills to collect and interpret data for making needed decisions.
- Strong understanding of ceramics and metal oxides.
- Strong PC / computer skills & intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and abilities.
- Design Control, APQP, DFMEAs and PFMEAs a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of lab equipment, instrumentation, and safety procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communications.
- Ability to work closely and collaborate with other departments.
- Ability to use advanced production quality planning and design skills are recommended.
