Job Description:
Full time position working in our Day habilitation program. Excellent benefits package! Generous time off and holidays!Responsibilities Include:Medication administration, nursing procedures, and documentation.The nurse must ensure the well-being of our participantsTeach and certify AMAP staff, observe AMAP pours monthly and recertify annuallyProvide monthly MAR s and ensure AMAP staff accurately pour meds and document the MAREnsure that all documentation regarding medication is accurate and updated and ensure that medications are given as per the orders of the physicianProvide training on the health needs of the individuals annually and as needed due to changes in health statusTrain staff on choking and aspiration prevention measures and train staff on health and safety protocolsProvide triage for illness or injuries in person or via phone and administer first aid as neededReview new admissions for medically pertinent information and for whether or not the agency can provide for their needs within our programsAs a CPR instructor, provide training to staff. (RN s are required to be certified as CPR instructors the same as non RN staff in order to certify staff in CPR. So if she cannot do the compression to teach we can either have a co-instructor teach that component or just not utilize her as an instructorQualifications:Must have a professional R.N. LICENSE from New York StateThree plus years experience in hospital, E.R or other medical settingExperience working with mentally disabled individuals is a plusHave working knowledge of NYS OPWDD rules and regulations governing the care of consumers residing in and attending programs.
