The Recreation Therapy Specialist is responsible to develop appropriate recreation activities, participate at treatment team meetings, generate a monthly recreation calendar, oversee community outings, utilize appropriate equipment, provide documentation for expenditures and participate in agency activities. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess individual s capabilities and develop, coordinate, implement, document and evaluate appropriate therapeutic recreation activities.
- Participate at Treatment Team meetings and integrate with Residence Coordinators, Managers, staff and Client Coordinators recreation goals, activities and plans.
- Generate a monthly recreation calendar and document all in-house activities and community field trips.
- Oversee activities and organize transportation for community outings.
- Request, utilize and maintain recreation materials and equipment.
- Provide specific documentation for each expenditure and maintain recreation account.
- Participate in activities as part of the treatment team that may include meetings, trainings, and committees.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor s Degree in therapeutic recreation or in recreation with a concentration in therapeutic recreation.
- Minimum 1 year of experience preferred.
- Valid NYS Driver s License required.
