Position Title: Real Estate Closer I

Department: Real Estate Lending

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $21-$26 per hour depending on experience

POSITION PURPOSE

This on-site position is responsible for the closing and funding duties associated with the home equity and mortgage pipelines. The position will be responsible for other ancillary duties associated with post-closing steps on both mortgages and home equities to ensure the completion of all necessary items for a complete loan record.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Coordinate and schedule mortgage and home equity closings
  • Prepare home equity applications for disbursement by branch employee or disbursement by back-office staff
  • Disburse home equity and mortgage loan transactions to Credit Union s core system
  • Complete loan record setup for home equity and mortgage loans on Credit Union s core system
  • Prepare and send preliminary closing disclosures for mortgages and fixed home equity loans
  • Ensure the timely scheduling of mortgages and home equity closings
  • Obtain final figures for mortgage and home equity closings such as title reports and payoff letters
  • Prepare and submit loan closing documents for home equity loans to FSR within service level agreement timelines.
  • Prepare and send out closing documents for mortgage loans
  • Send wire requests in connection with home equity and mortgage closings
  • Ensure all home equity liens are filed within the department s service level agreement.
  • Participate in new development, testing, implementation of new products, pricing and special projects.
  • Continuously develop strategies and measurements to meet members credit needs, increase loan growth and profitability opportunities while minimizing risk of loss to the credit union.
  • Perform responsibilities of position in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as credit union policies and procedures.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Recommend and implement changes to improve workflow, efficiencies and quality.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

    Performance is measured against the goals as outlined by the position established by the supervisor.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Some college preferred plus two to three years experience in home equity processing; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Working knowledge of RESPA and TILA guidelines. Must have excellent communication skills. Basic understanding of real estate lending requirements. This position requires that the employee gain a working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and how they will affect their work. The employee will comply with all requirements of the BSA and cooperate with the designated BSA Officer in assuring compliance.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Using PC based software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Scheduling and preparing documents for real estate loans. Experience funding mortgage and home equity loans.

    SKILLS/ABILITIES: Strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritize a steady stream of incoming tasks. Strong time management skills. Must project a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times. Must be team oriented. Ability to communicate closing requirements to internal and external members.
