Quality EngineerDepartment: ManufacturingEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Cazenovia, New YorkReporting To: Quality ManagerCompensation: $75,000 - $100,000/ yearDescriptionThe Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring consistent application of quality techniques, providing statistical information for quality improvement, and investigating, analyzing, and resolving quality problems.Key Responsibilities
  • Review customer quotes and orders to ensure compliance to quality requirements.
  • Provide statistical analysis of processes using applicable data/statistics, quality tools, and software.
  • Identify and record problems relating to product lines and initiate actions to prevent recurrence of nonconformities relating to products and processes.
  • Assist in the evaluation and qualification of new product designs and new supplier materials through defined new product development process.
  • Monitor and support site quality objectives by maintaining metrics. Report these on a regular recurring basis
  • Lead performance improvement projects to increase facility capability and consistently meet company and customer requirements.
  • Participate in documentation review, approval, revision, or creation as necessary to ensure proper documentation of processes.
  • Review customer complaints and complete RCCA reports to prevent recurrence.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with a Quality emphasis
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Experience working in a factory certified to TS/IATF16949, AS9100, or ISO 9001
  • Experience with various improvement tools, including 8D, Lean Six Sigma, Five Whys, Pareto Analysis, FMEA Kaizen, Cpk, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Work well in a high-volume production environment with minimal supervision.
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers, customers, or corporate meetings

Knowles is committed to providing a competitive and fair total compensation package for all employees. One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting base pay for this role is targeted to be between $75,000 to $112,000 per year.Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Knowles, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range.
