Job Description:

**MUST live on Long Island or in NYC Metropolitan Area**

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience, preferrably in a quality role.

Must have 1 out of the following 2 project experiences:

  • New commercial construction; large-scale; complex
  • Civil/Utility work (high voltage electrical, mechanical/underground utilities)

Skill Expectations:

  • Experience working within a field team in a quality control role, team player.
  • Ability to observe and ensure work is proceeding based on approved drawings, specs, shops, and manufacturer instructions and to assist in addressing and solving field issues. This includes coordinating with the project team. Problem solver.
  • As a team player, you must be able to take the lead on quality. Being vocal in foreman, subcontractor, and quality meetings regarding material deliveries, following the correct documents, addressing field issues, etc.
  • Act as a liaison with the owner regarding quality issues.
  • Strong personality and field presence in order to manage and control subcontractors.
  • General Responsibilities:

    • Implement a project-specific quality control plan.
    • Inspect and evaluate the work area, confirm they are in accordance with contract documents and manufacturer s recommendations. Report deficiencies and elevate issues as needed to ensure quality.
    • Develop, subcontractor work plans, submittals, QC reports, task inspection checklist, as required.
    • Ensure that subcontractors are aware of all project quality control and follow protocol.
    • Plan for and conduct a three-phase Quality Control Program to include: Preparatory/Pre-con meetings, Initial Phase/1st Work-in-Place (WIP) inspections and Reports; Follow-up Inspections and Reports.
    • Lead and document quality control meetings with the project team and/or customers; and provide written minutes.
    • Coordinate with manufacturer for inspections report as needed. Schedule, coordinate, and document all required independent inspections and tests. Document non-conformances, confirm corrective action and re-inspect all non-conformances prior to covering up work.
    • Provide daily quality control inspections to achieve desired quality outcomes. Report any non-conformances.
    • Verify and document that all materials/equipment received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal and are handled and stored appropriately in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. Check for damaged and defective materials and address.
    • Conduct pre-inspections to confirm the work in place is ready.
    • Review as-built drawings to ensure that they are current, and accurate.
    • Stop work, for any work not in compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, etc.
    • Escalate to management (PM and Super)
    • Communicate and interact with all trades, manufacturers, suppliers, construction staff and customer representatives, in a professional manner.

    Other preferred capabilities/skills:

  • Proficient in using Procore and MS Office, especially MS Word and Excel.
