Job Description:

Our client has an exciting, brand-new role for a prospect research analyst interested in making a real impact on the development operations for a global Jewish humanitarian nonprofit. Our client strives to build upon successful implementation of various advancement operations endeavors through the Prospect Research & Development Systems Manager position. This role will be a critical partner to fundraisers by continuing to build the major donor base; helping to manage fundraiser portfolios and the allocation of resources; creating workflows to illuminate insights into fundraising progress; and other various systems-related projects. As part of an organization focused primarily on major gifts, this role will enable the Resource Development team s success through development of prospecting processes, effective use of technology, and business analysis to expand our donor base. This position is hybrid and based out of the New York office.

  • This is a full-time position paid semi-monthly at a salary of $70,000 - $85,000 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular (yearly or biyearly) wealth screenings of entire company donor base to maintain accurate and updated prospect data
  • Develop and operate a program that proactively researches direct mail or online donors and prospects with ultra-high net worth to create a bench of qualified prospects
  • Conduct donor and prospect research and analysis based on requests from fundraisers and the executive office, or before events and missions
  • Continually monitor industry standards and trends on prospect research practices to ensure company practices remain ahead of the curve
  • Manage relationships and contracts with donor/prospect research vendors and/or external contractors in partnership with the DFES, regularly assessing new products and technologies
  • Manage departmental access to all prospect/donor research tools based on needs, and run regular trainings for Resource Development (RD) staff
  • Regularly review and update fundraiser portfolios based on departmental criteria, donor behavior, and portfolio criteria
  • Manage incoming fundraiser portfolio requests
  • Collaboratively develop, launch, and administer a Moves Management process in line with company s new CRM that: activates fundraisers to input data on donor interactions; provides insights on movement of donors through the donor lifecycle; delivers qualitative and quantitative data on individual fundraiser activity; and other related reports
  • Oversee and manage guidelines and practice of the import and export of activities related to donor engagement (e.g. events and missions), in partnership with the Gift Processing & Analytics (GP&A) team
  • Regularly (quarterly or bi-yearly) refresh major donor, Board member, and email and direct mail communication lists
  • Oversee other team members in the bi-yearly pledge reminder and write-off process
  • Work with fellow team members to facilitate regular (quarterly or monthly) lapsed donor reporting to provide fundraisers with actionable leads
  • Regularly (quarterly) report on progress to goals and metrics, and overall fundraising activities to produce key insights and observe trends
  • Familiarize yourself with company s global mission and work
  • Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior professional experience in a relevant field, such as Development Operations, Business Development, Analytics, and/or Reporting
  • Prior experience in high-level prospect research; knowledge of best practices for building profiles of potential donors
  • Experience working with CRMs (i.e. Raiser s Edge, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Little Green Light, etc.)
  • Strategic business analysis, forecasting skills, and creativity; ability to see both the big picture on a macro scale and the micro details, spot key opportunities, and generate business ideas
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to speak both database and fundraiser and translate between them, work with people throughout the organization across all levels, locations, and cultures, and motivate and empower staff to effectively use tools
  • Patience, customer orientation, and the ability to train others on prospect research best practices
  • Proactivity, follow-through, and high standards to meet the high stakes of working with high-net-worth donors
  • Ability to work effectively both on one s own and in collaboration with colleagues
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • Adaptability and resilience, able to pivot quickly in a fast-paced environment when the organization responds to humanitarian crises
  • Ability to use data to effectively tell a story
  • Resourceful, able to effectively navigate a large globally distributed department of dedicated and collaborative colleagues
  • Ability to read words and numbers
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate in person or over the telephone
  • Prior experience as a Business Analyst, Research Analyst, Marketing Analyst or similar role
  • Passion for humanitarian work and/or global Jewish service strongly preferred
