Project Manager

The Project Manager manages the overall project direction, completion, and financial outcome and administers both the owner and subcontractor relationships for assigned projects. The position requires extensive knowledge of engineering systems, a thorough understanding of project management processes, and must be strong in the following skill sets: leadership, organizational, time management, communication, and client service skills.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management are prerequisites.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of industry relevant experience.
  • Experience with healthcare construction projects is highly preferred.

Essential skills and abilities

  • Builds relationships with individuals within client organizations to coordinate work and make decisions at the appropriate level for the short-term project and long-term partnership.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, in various phases, at one time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, take initiative and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 is highly preferred. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite & Bluebeam. Ability to review and fully comprehend ARCH & MEP drawings and reports.
  • Comment and suggest potential improvements for smoother project implementation, minimal disruption, phasing, and potential impact on other project related components.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Is recognized as an expert with specialist/authority level and understanding of Construction Drawings and Documentation.
  • Reads and understands construction plans and drawings and the technical specifications associated with drawings.
  • Outlines specifications required for submission to client and follows through with submittals.
  • Work closely with the client and other key stakeholders to develop project scope and decide on the best project delivery method Applies building and construction knowledge, including history, customers, competitive environment, and materials and methods to build quality projects safely.
  • Negotiates and manages development and execution of the client's prime contract as well as subcontracts and vendor agreements Ensures the financial interests of the company are protected while maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Communicates with parties within and outside of own job function, which may include external customers or vendors depending upon the job function.
  • Manages design process and relationships between design and construction to ensure the designer delivers quality, budget conscious, and complete documents on schedule.
  • Manages a small to mid-sized team consisting of experienced professionals. Leads, directs, and reviews the work of a team who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
  • Creates and validates financial forecasts of costs for upcoming activities and projects. Manage RFIs, submittals, schedule, budget, scope and other project documents through the applicable project management software.
  • Develop bid packages and solicit proposals for various scopes according to the client s policies.
  • Act as the primary contact with the client throughout the duration of the project Conduct periodic meetings with key project stakeholders to report on progress Identifies potential risks related to operations, contracts, or project execution.
  • Develops mitigation plans and strategies to control the impact of negative situations or to maximize opportunities throughout the life cycle of a project.
  • Facilitate initiation of all critical project meetings and coordination exercises with internal staff, key stakeholders, and external users to ensure responsibilities are efficiently, accurately, and effectively communicated and understood by all concerned.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules utilizing MS Project or other similar tools. Understand and develop feasible phasing plans as needed, complying with the end-users needs.
