A doctorate in a related field may be substituted for two years of specialized experience.**Specialized experience includes working in a professional capacity in one of the following fields: Workforce Development, Criminal Justice, Reentry, Social Services, Human Services, Education, Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A strong belief that justice-involved individuals, including those who have been previously incarcerated, can and deserve to work in their communities. Comfortable working with incarcerated individuals in a federal corrections facility setting. Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders. Relevant experience in the education or workforce development of justice involved or incarcerated individuals. Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills. A self-starter and team player able to work collaboratively with and through others. Flexibility and ability to pivot as needed. Ability to communicate complex information into easily digestible segments and lay out plans with the goals and vision of the Department in mind. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects. Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences. Ability to influence others with messages to move toward a common vision. Ability to work effectively at all levels within the Department. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:The Project Coordinator will support the New York State Department of Labor's Partners for Reentry Opportunities in Workforce Development (PROWD) Grant by: Aligning job training and skill development services provided to individuals in the care and custody of Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) facilities, Residential Reentry Centers (RRC) and post release services at local Workforce Development Career Centers; Providing pre-release service to incarcerated individuals, both in-person and virtually, to facilitate program enrollment, career exploration, and job search activities; Working with contractors and BOP to implement and deliver the Roots for Success (ROS) curriculum to include peer training and mentoring services pre-release; Coordinating a team-based service delivery intervention known as Integrated Resource Team (IRT) that coordinates individualized services and funding to support an individual's unique employment goals; Gathering available training, resources, and best practices from partners to support project implementation; Convening virtual and/or in person listening session with incarcerated individuals to identify needs and systems barriers; Case managing individuals from pre- to post-release; Providing career development and job search assistance as needed; Expanding relationships with businesses that want to hire justice-involved individuals through targeted outreach campaigns by industry; Collaborating with workforce providers to identify job and career opportunities aligned to skills/experience of formally incarcerated individuals; Working with American Job Centers across the country to support an individual's transition to work out of or into New York State; Conducting outreach to businesses, including public facing events such as Meet the Employer events and Reentry Job Fairs; Implementing training including ROS curriculum and customized workshops; Implementing training for Reentry Employment Specialists (RES), Labor Services Representatives (LSR), and Local Bonding Coordinators (LBC); Piloting a mentoring model based on ROS and any complementary best practices; and Engaging with the federally designated evaluator to complete required evaluation tasks.Additional Comments Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.Travel will be 50-75% of the working time.
