Job Description:

Our client is a leading aerospace manufacturer in the Western New York area. They are currently looking for a Production Supervisor to join their team. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this person will be responsible for overseeing the activities and development of the production team. They will also be responsible for manufacturing quality products by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring the workflow.

Available schedules

  • Day Shift: Monday through Friday from 7:30am-5:00pm. Alternating Fridays off.
  • Evening Shift: Monday through Friday from 3:15pm-1:00am. Alternating Fridays off.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop an effective team by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. This includes coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees while developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, and monitoring personnel and resources. This involves studying methods, implementing cost reductions, developing reporting procedures and systems, facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points, and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Complete the production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting the results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
  • Ensure the operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment, and exploring new techniques.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, and implementing change.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Serve as the lead on the second shift for the entire facility, acting accordingly to address any issues that arise.
  • Manage subordinates, both supervisory and non-supervisory employees, in the assigned Production Departments.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, and train incoming employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Appraise performance, reward, and discipline employees as needed.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the following areas: Supervision, Coaching, Managing Processes, Process Improvement, Tracking Budget Expenses, Production Planning, Controls and Instrumentation.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Environment desired
  • College degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • MRP knowledge required
