Job Description:

We are offering a relocation package for the right candidate to Kearney, MO, this Project Engineer will work a hybrid schedule - 75% onsite in Kearney, MO and 25% work from home The Project-Process Engineer is responsible for understanding the processes and technical activities in a continuously running production environment to implement, improve, and assist in troubleshooting equipment and processes in multiple plants. This position supports the Division in the direction and selection of equipment through supporting Project Engineers as well as managing projects of their own. The Project Management requires plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participates. Responsible and accountable to ensure that all assigned project resource personnel are coordinating their activities with other project participants and that the requirements of the contract are successfully satisfied. Not responsible to ensure the technical accuracy of specific design details in areas where not qualified: However, expected to have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing in the various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective actions. The Process Management requires understanding basic PLC ladder logic (majority Allen-Bradley based), digital and analog inputs and outputs, machine based ethernet communication, integrating disparate equipment, and understanding the bigger picture of how components communicate with each other. May be called upon to help Maintenance troubleshoot drives, PLCs, cards, and ethernet signals. Must be comfortable making decisions for how machinery must be specified and work with other engineers to drive to an efficient and effective processing environment through implementation, improvement, and developing new processes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDefine and drive machinery design and specification towards a standardized platformUnderstand PLC based integration, communication, and control to implement, improve, and troubleshootUnderstand analog and digital Input/Output controls as well as integrating with drives, thermocouple cards, and signal convertersDesign/direct/manage projects (as assigned) to include capital budget development, capital budget maintenance, and expense reduction projectsCoordination and checking of engineering deliverables, includes creating project engineering schedules and forecasts; Monthly project status reports and change ordersAccountable for the successful completion of engineering projectsRequires extensive regular contact with assigned project clients or plantsAssist in the preparation of engineering project proposalsBudget monitoring and trend trackingParticipating in contractor meetings and resolving manufacturing/engineering and management project issuesDesign/develop cost reduction projects, for plants and corporate, including follow-up and involvement from conception to completionFacilitate the design, purchase, and implementation of machinery and equipment for manufacturing processes, as well as coordinate projects and improvements with plantsUsing management skills, establish relationships with vendors to keep equipment updated and current with latest technology and improvementsPrepare reports and paperwork as needed to communicate properly all projects with management and other interested parties to include plants and vendors where applicableWork to assure compliance with governmental rules, codes, standards, regulations, and with industry standards. (e.g. OSHA, EPA, RCRA, UST s, CERCLA, SARA, DOT, and other as applicable)Develop programs and plans for long range needs of plants in line with corporate requirements and needsCreate presentations as needed or assigned to properly communicate project informationDevelop process and project documentation to include capability studies, flow analysis, project charts, blueprints, CPM charts, equipment layouts, Pareto analysis, cost reduction studies, and others as assigned or appropriateAssist R&D efforts to implement new products or process into production for improvements and/or competitive advantageParticipate in corporate business unit (as applicable) and plant efforts to maintain safe and orderly work environments. Work with plant (or across business unit as appropriate) to foster and develop teamwork in our efforts to be productive and competitiveAssist plants and vendors with equipment design improvementsEstablish project goals, budgets, and timelinesAs appropriate or assigned, may assume environmental responsibility to include air permit, storm water permit, hazardous waste compliance and SARA, etc. and submission of required reports. Will also conduct related training as requiredPerforms other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONSBachelor s degree in related engineering or related disciplineProject Management, process technology/engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and educationFive to eight years experience in engineering discipline in corporate and plant settings with a solid, demonstrated record of achievementRelevant plant operations or technical experience will also be consideredExperience in plastics manufacturing preferredExperience with SolidWorks OR AutoCAD requiredEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work with multiple discipline projects, managing time and prioritize work accordinglyProficiency with personal computers, including Microsoft SuiteKnowledge of PLC and HMI programming including AB RSLogixs and Wonderware software preferredAutomation knowledge and experience highly desiredHeavy travel required 30%+
