Job DescriptionWildlife Conservation SocietyPosition DescriptionDepartment: Business Services - Events & CateringTitle: Porter Employment Type: SeasonalStatus: Non-ExemptGrade Level: HourlyPay Range: $16.00 - $19.00 per hourReports To: Events & Catering Manager, Events & Catering Assistant ManagerPosition Description: Ideal candidate must be highly driven, maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast paced environment. The Events and Catering Porter is responsible for the transfer, set-up, break down, and cleaning for events. Schedule: The work schedule for this seasonal position typically operates March - December. Must be able to work 2 to 5 days per week. Position requires flexible availability to work non-standard hours including morning, evenings, holidays, and weekends. Schedule may start as early as 6:00 a.m. and work as late as 4:00 a.m. May be required to work a 10-hour day or longer. Position Responsibilities and Specifications:Ability to work at a fast pace and coordinate multiple projects while assisting the catering events and culinary team in the set-up for all events according to the customizations specified on the Banquet Event OrderGathering, transporting, setting up, breaking down, and storing event equipmentFilling pull sheet orders to gather equipment needed for specific eventsLoading and unloading supplies safely to and from appropriate vehicles and transporting to the location of the eventsSet up equipment needed for the success of the event including tables, chairs, dancefloor, linens, food service equipment, china, glassware, etc.Assist in bussing and running food, helping clear and replenish food items during eventsSet up, run, break down, and clean up Sanit area during larger eventsDish and pot washing for events that require itRemove debris and empty trash receptacles from event spaceGeneral cleaning and sanitation of event space, kitchen, sanit, dish room, restrooms, storage areas, carts, etc.Operate light weight grounds keeping equipment including leaf blower and pressure washerDeep cleaning of equipment, walls, floors, vents, ceilings, vehicles, etc. as assignedAssist in inventorying, cleaning, and organizing all equipment Break down all equipment at the conclusion of events and ensure all items are put away and the event space is cleanedFollow safe storage, service, and sanitation practicesPerform other related duties assigned by managementQualification RequirementsQualificationsPrior Janitorial or Events, Conference services, Hotel, Banquet, or Restaurant experience preferredMust have flexible availability including day shift and night shift hours, weekends and holidaysMust be reliable and dependable Must be able to work independently and/or within a team with limited supervisionStrong customer service skills preferredMust possess strong communication, interpersonal, and strong organizational skillsPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, this position routinely requires standing, walking, holding/carrying, reaching, twisting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, kneeling/squatting, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders. Employee must have the ability to lift and/or move at least fifty pounds on a consistent basis. Ability to work in hot and drastically cold environments.
