POSITION SUMMARY: The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works as part of a team to provide personalized health and wellness services while ensuring both safety and comfort. The PTA implements selected treatments, obtains data related to the treatments provided, and makes modifications in selected treatments. QUALIFICATIONS: Associate Degree Current license as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Current CPR and first aid certification. 3+ years' clinical experience preferably in long term care or Assisted Living facility. Familiarity with EMR s. Must possess a caring and compassionate demeanor. Valid Driver's License Good Judgment and Critical Thinking skills Must be fully COVID vaccinated Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but is not limited to): Identify patient care issues by providing information and commentary, recommending options and courses of action, implementing physical therapy directives and documenting subsequent treatment. Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and making observations of their functional abilities during ADL s gait, endurance, balance, strength and flexibility is also access. Assesses conditions by reviewing patient history in medical records Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities; and in using supportive devices canes, and prostheses. Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal growth and development information, promoting wellness and health maintenance. Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing health and wellness programs for each patient. Daily ambulation and transfer training performed with patients. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations, etc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, or walking for long periods of time Occasionally lifting up (up to 125 lbs.)
