**Description**

**Qualifications:** High School Diploma/GED is required. Shall have appropriate training in health related fields particularly in the area of recreation preferred. Previous residential treatment setting experience with the developmentally disabled preferred. Must hold a current lifesaving certificate.

**Reports to:** LAC Program Coordinator

**Essential Functions:**

**1****.** Plan, implement and supervise leisure activities based on organized goals and objectives as it pertains to swimming.

**2****.** Assist individuals during pool activities, being alert for any signs of distress.

**3****.** Be physically capable of assisting with transfer of individuals in and out of the pool.

**4****.** Maintain the pool area in a safe and clean manner; ensure all pool side equipment is in proper working condition.

**5****.** Maintain a current Lifesaving Certificate at all times.

**6**. Maintain required trainings and documentation as required on the various

systems and logs provided

**Additional Functions:**

**1****.** Serve as an acceptable role model for all individuals.

**2****.** Foster positive relationships in all interactions with the community.

**3****.** Participate in treatment planning and other team meetings as needed.

**4****.** Participate in the staff in-service training programs as required.

**5****.** Carry out any other responsibilities deemed necessary to the position by the Director of Leisure Services.

**Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:**

Frequent bending and squatting.

Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance.

Prolonged exposure to water.

Occasional use of physical intervention.

Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.

Potential for exposure to chemicals.Potential sun exposure
