Position summary:

The People Operations Manager position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Furthering the People Operations mission of enabling strategy, shaping behaviors and driving results, the People Operations Manager solves organizational challenges through people-related solutions. The People Operations Manager partners with market leaders to ensure that the people programs and systems are in place to recruit, retain, develop and maximize talent. The position formulates partnerships across the peoples function to deliver value-added service to management and associates that reflects the business objectives of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead People Operations efforts for your assigned division within the organization including staffing, onboarding, and employee-life cycle matters
  • Provide recommendations for organizational department planning, talent management, and workplace culture improvements
  • Leads the efforts of performance management and improvement systems as well as employee development, employment administration and compliance with a regulatory, policy, and employment law focus
  • Oversees employee onboarding, career development and training, employee relations, rewards programs, policy development and documentation
  • Establish partnerships and consult with key business stakeholders and HR team members to foster teamwork, collaboration, and learning within the HR team, contributing to a positive work environment
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Ensures new office personnel are placed on onboarding training plans working with managers and HR personnel to develop training programs for job specific roles
  • Partner with leadership to facilitate employee communication strategies, campaigns, and rollouts
  • Partners on recruitment initiatives including recommending advertisement strategies, interviewing candidates, and coordination of employee communications and events for recruitment efforts
  • Serves a leadership point of contact for employees and managers, resolving employee matters, payroll and benefit issues, and workplace complaints
  • Assist with compensation structure, wage bands, and benefits administration as directed by senior leadership
  • Manages Leave of Absence Administration for employees within the lines of business as well partners with Risk Management on Workers Compensation claims and accidents
  • Assist with the administration of employee safety, welfare, wellness & health initiatives, regulatory training, employee services and employee assistance programs
  • Conducts employee satisfaction surveys, assesses workplace culture, provides recommendations to lines of business, and strategizes employee initiatives to improvement morale and engagement
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units and consults with line management, providing HR guidance as appropriate in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Facilitates initial check-in evaluations, annual performance reviews, quarterly bonus goal attainment and other performance management initiatives including but limited to promotions and transfers
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations matters including coaching, counseling, mediation, performance improvement plans, and corrective action.
  • Leads and conducts effective, thorough and objective employment investigations and advises management in accordance with employment laws and workplace safety
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the HR Leadership and Legal department as needed/required.
  • Administers employee separations, conducts exit interviews, and ensures all off-boarding activities are properly performed
  • Conducts focus groups, retention initiatives, reward & recognition programs, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Oversees the maintenance of personnel/medical files, E-Verify administration, background, drug screening, and DMV adjudication review procedures
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of People Operations experience
  • Minimum education level of: BA/BS degree (4 year) in related field, Master's Degree preferred
  • PHR/SHRM-CP or related HR Certification strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Workday is highly desired
  • Previous supervisory experience managing at least 2-3 direct reports

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to travel as per the needs of the business
  • Strong knowledge of multiple People Operations disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and labor relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and respective state employment laws.
