The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/per diem Pathologist Assistant / Clinical Lab Technologist - Hourly/Per Diem. The successful candidate will:
* Work under the general supervision of a Pathologist.
* Conduct gross examination of human tissue surgical specimens.
* Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and numbering of surgical specimens.
* Describe gross anatomic features, dissection, preparation and submission of tissue for microscopic examination and histologic processing; record keeping, embedding log sheet, maintenance/cleanliness of grossing areas, and perform frozen sections.
* Perform autopsy; preparation of human postmortem exam, including ascertaining proper legal authority of autopsy; autopsy may include external exam, in situ organ inspection, evisceration, dissection, record of data (weight, fluids, etc.), and prepare body for release.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences or an Allied Health discipline.
* New York State Pathologies Assistant licensure.
