NCCC's Division of Workforce Development is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a remote Pharmacy Technician Course (63 hours). While there may be the possibility of a future in-person session, current candidates must have the ability to teach online utilizing the Zoom platform. All instructional staff are responsible for meeting SUNY and NCCC regulations. This includes completing training requirements and utilizing NCCC's email platform.

This position is responsible for cultivating the department's mission and objectives through student instruction, curricular design, and practical knowledge in order to ensure the successful program and personal development of each student. The instructor will utilize their educational and professional experience to foster a student-centered classroom environment that cultivates student engagement, growth, and career readiness after the completion of the program.

This position requires the ability to work autonomously and hold class as scheduled. The ability to communicate effectively with supervisory staff in a timely fashion should a change be necessary is a critical component of this position.

Typical Work Activities

* Provide supervisory staff with course materials, course assessments, and a course syllabus each term.

* Responsible for course textbook and material selection.

* Creation of a course outline and provide comprehensive classroom instruction that covers the CPhT Required Knowledge for students taking the current CPhT (PTCB) Exam

* Review student work and provide students with feedback on progress in a timely manner.

* Responsible for submitting bi-weekly time sheets as required.

* Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic progress.

* Provide copies of any assessments or graded material for each student; and a signed student attendance roster within 2-weeks of the final course to supervisory staff.

* Build relationships within the industry to promote the program and assist recent graduates with job placement.

* Other duties assigned by supervisory staff.

Essential Functions

Ability to work with, relate to, and train a diverse population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to develop, prepare, and present information. Must be able to read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form. Must be able to operate computers and utilize Zoom as a teaching platform. Must be able perform the physical duties of the position.

Required Qualifications

* Three years of Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician experience.

* Knowledge of current Pharmacy Technician Federal and NY State regulations.

* Knowledge of the CPhT exam requirements; and CPhT topics that the course will cover.

* CPhT, BSPharm, or PharmD certification

* Experience using Zoom.

Desirable Qualifications

In-person or remote teaching experience at the post-secondary level, or experience training pharmacy technicians within the industry.

License(s)/Certifications

CPhT, BSPharm, or PharmD certification
