Overview:

Gallagher Bassett is the premier provider of global claims, loss control, and risk management consulting services, dedicated to exceptional customer service and demonstrably superior outcomes.

The ideal candidate for this position must have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a civil construction/utility work team. The candidate must be able to recognize safety hazards, provide safety oversight for the project and deliver detailed daily/periodic reports on time.

  • It will be a W-2 position. We are not able to do 1099 or C2C.
  • You must meet our U.S. Eligibility requirements for work authorization as noted under Additional Information at the bottom of the job description.
  • Salary $65.00 $75.00/hour depending on experience level
Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

  • Position reports to the Director of Safety Field Operations and will be primarily a remote position.
  • Position requires travel within the Long Island, New York regional area(s).
  • Ensure our Clients sites perform all required actions and duties as it relates to system safety compliance; fire/ life safety; safety training; required safety certification; emergency procedures, plans and drills; and any other on-site safety/risk management compliance.
  • Experience and understanding of the construction/excavation, work being performed and all safety, health and security implications related to civil construction and utility projects
  • Perform daily safety inspection report and related audits for system readiness. Conduct daily/periodic safety meetings, perform site orientations and coordinate safety personnel for civil construction and/or utility projects/activities.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree or higher and 3-5 years of experience.
  • Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Certification with documented 5+ years of gas utility work experience (CUSP Green or Blue).
  • Successful completion of the OTC-107, 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety & Health (29 CFR 1926) Course.
  • Valid CPR, First Aid and AED training certification.
  • Valid OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training
  • Confined Space training
  • Process hazard analysis (PHA) and process safety training.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable motor vehicle transportation.
  • Ability to work on your feet for long periods of time (8+ hours per day), lift 50 -60 pounds, and work in all types of seasonal weather and temperature conditions (typically March through October annually).
  • Computer skills including; Microsoft Office; Word, Excel.
  • Availability on occasion for off-shift and weekend work.

Desired:

  • CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST certification preferred.
  • Experience in civil/utility sector safety.

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual communication skills.
  • Located in Long Beach, NY; Suffolk County or surrounding areas.

Work Traits:

  • Ability to negotiate client properties/work sites including walking, climbing, lifting, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently to deliver on a timely basis with minimal supervision and be prompt.
  • Strong organizational skills to participate in multiple projects tasks simultaneously prioritize assignments and prepare daily inspection reports.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, professional, and industry standards and practices.
  • Proactive attitude and customer service focus.
